Greetings Rock ‘n’ Rollers! Today we’re going to hear a hilarious confession from Abbie Roads and I’m going to encourage you to check out her massive release party and author giveaway event on Facebook! Abbie’s group, the Dangerously Dark Darlings will be hosting over a hundred authors and giveaways for your viewing pleasure, so come play with us.
I met Abbie last year through our author chats with Diana Muñoz Stewart and Maria Vale and we realized that we have a lot in common. In her other life, she is a mental health professional and I worked for years as a school counselor and spent time working with victims of domestic violence and doing therapy with them and their kids as an intern. As an author, she writes dark and twisty romantic suspense that you can really sink your teeth into. I can’t wait for the new book and I hope you’ll check it out as well.
I asked Abbie to share with us a little confession and honestly, this one rang true for me as well. I think many of us authory folks have been there:
“When I was writing my first novel I debated with myself about whether a certain male body part should be called a ‘dick’ or a ‘cock’. I had ‘cock’ in my manuscript and I decided that felt too dirty (haha) so I did a find/replace and the computer automatically replaced all the ‘cocks’ with ‘dicks.’ It wasn’t until I started reading through the manuscript that I noticed my mistake.
He dicked his head.
The dickroaches scrambled.
She dicked back her arm and swung.”
I LOVE IT! Thanks for sharing this tidbit from your writing adventures. I know people have preferences when it comes to naming the flaming appendage. The skin flute definitely gets dicked around when we are writing the sexy times. Do you have a penile preference? Let’s take a poll! Answer the question on this form and let’s have a good laugh about throbbing members and trouser snakes haha. You can win an ebook of mine and an ebook of Abbie’s latest release!
Here’s more about Abbie:
Seven Things about Abbie Roads:
1. She loves Snicker Parfaits. Gotta start with what’s most important, right?
2. She writes dark emotional books featuring damaged characters, but always gives her hero and heroine a happy ending… after torturing them for three hundred pages.
3. By day she’s a mental health counselor known for her blunt, honest style of therapy. At night she burns up the keyboard. Well… Burn might be too strong a word. She at least sits with her hands poised over the keyboard, waiting for inspiration to strike. And when it does–the keyboard might get a little warm.
4. She can’t stand it when people drive slowly in the passing lane. Just saying. That’s major annoying. Right?
5. She loves taking pictures of things she thinks are pretty.
6. She lives in Marion, Ohio with her favorite fellow and two fur babies.
7. Being a published author is a dream come true for her.
